Saltwater intrustion in Vermilion Parish (1999)

Saltwater intrusion has been an issue in Vermilion Parish for many years now – and only seems to be getting worse. Several factors contribute to this ongoing problem including droughts, water-flow within the intercoastal waterway and the natural topography of the region. This story features the ongoing salinity issue and looks at some of the possible causes and effects. Shot on a bitterly cold day in December of 1999.
